I'm kind of surprised by the one star review. I liked this story a lot, especially the idea of the shift in reality (always a favorite theme for me). It was hot, a good read, and I thought the character development was fine for what this is. Then again, I have enjoyed all of this authors stories, so maybe I'm not the best judge. Still, I recommend it enthusiastically!

Wow, this is an excellent superhero take-down fantasy. The villain takes him down by degrees, and the hero ineffectually resists and tries to argue as his downfall develops and intensifies, which I always find sexy. There's also a nice twist about halfway through, which gives some more varied scenes of erotic humiliation. Well-done!

Born William Fielding Stroud (Bill), 1946, Fargo, North Dakota into a wealthy family which lost it all in the depression and there was nothing left by the time I came around. As American as a guy can be; ancestors on the Mayflower and all that. Education attained mainly through life experience though didn’t quit high school. A published poet. A builder and player of hand-drums. Two tours in Vietnam (67-69) Classified Documents Specialist/Door Gunner/Crew Chief. Permanently 100% Disabled with PTSD. Presentations to the Delta Force at Carlisle, worked in prisons, jails, drug rehab centers, parents w/o partners, corporations, hospitals, universities, community colleges, high schools, Vietnam veterans, ordinary folk and a few others. Retired at 50 when becoming a first-time father and moved to Maui with wife and son. Recently was knocked off a ladder and haven’t been able to work much physically so want to thank you for the opportunity of having something worthwhile to fill my time with.

Moats has created a set of very interesting characters in the multi-book series entitled the Jim and Penny series. I started off with a free copy of the 1st Bob Moats Jim Richards Novels, then purchased the next two, only to return them to buy this box set. Best decision ever! The books are well written, pulling you in from the first chapter. I was delighted to find someone who shared my appreciation of Palm products, and then Yorkies! These books have kept me reading into the nights, at doctor's appointments, anytime I had a minute, I would be reading. I am definitely on my way to pick up some more of the series, and love the fact that there are so many more to read! Seriously, Bob Moats writes awesome thrillers, with characters and plots that are interesting, believable and most of all, make you want to be a part of their "family"!

I really enjoyed the entire series of 6 books. My mother lives in Clinton Twp, and so I am very familiar with the streets and locations that Bob writes about. His characters are warm, funny, and I feel as though I know them through Bob's writing. The story lines are good, with lots of twists and turns that kept me reading into the very small hours of the night! And he manages to bring the right amount of humor into each story. I have never been to Vegas, but after reading his adventures there, I am ready to head to Vegas and see the sights! Bob has a different style of writing, that makes you feel as if he is talking directly to the reader. Highly recommend his books!

About the Author
Richard W. Mansbach (BA Swarthmore College, DPhil Oxford University) is a former Marshall Scholar and three-time Fulbright Scholar. He has authored, co-authored, or edited seventeen books and numerous articles and book chapters largely concerning theory in global politics and foreign policy. His scholarship has extended our understanding of global politics beyond the traditional notion of territorial states interacting in an anarchic system to encompass a wide variety of actors complexly related across a variety of issues. Increasingly, his work has moved from the dominant role of "states" in international relations theory to encompass a changing cast of actors in a globalizing world and toward the concept of "identity" and the role of psychological, as opposed to geographic, distance in determining loyalties and behavior. His scholarship focuses on the critical role of history and norms in understanding change and continuity in global politics and in the movement from pre-international to international and, ultimately, post-international politics in a globalizing world. Among his books several are routinely used in major graduate programs, notably, The Web of World Politics, In Search of Theory: Toward a New Paradigm for Global Politics, The Elusive Quest: Theory and International Politics, Polities: Authority, Identities, and Change, The Elusive Quest Continues: Theory and Global Politics, Remapping Global Politics, Globalization: The return of borders to a borderless world?. In addition, Professor Mansbach was the co-editor of the field's flagship journal International Studies. He has also served as department chair at Rutgers University (New Brunswick) and at Iowa State University. Kirsten Taylor (BA University of Pittsburgh, PhD McGill University) is Associate Professor and Department Chair of Government and International Studies at Berry College, a private liberal arts college in Northwest Georgia. Her scholarship focuses on the development and transformation of international institutions and norms, with particular emphases on security and environmental institutions, teaching with simulations. Her articles have appeared in International Studies Perspectives, Canadian Journal of Political Science and Comparative Strategy. Extremely occult . . . and extremely beautiful

To which literary genre does "Romance of Two Worlds" belong? It has sci-fi, fantasy, and occult elements. It offers some adventure, some romance, and some mystery. What is most striking, however, is that the plot is about a spiritual quest--the kind everyone feels the need to begin, sooner or later, when the world's answers no longer satisfy one's questions.
Marie Corelli's nameless narrator represents the seeking soul in all of us. Yet, at the beginning of the story, she appears to have given up the search. Unlike those who have never bothered to search and do not mind being in the dark, she is wasting away in mind, body and spirit. Then she meets a mysterious painter who asks to do her portrait. It is in his studio that she has her first supernatural experience, which rejuvenates her body and rekindles her need to find the answers.
Her first teacher is another mysterious figure, a Chaldean named Heliobas. (It is hinted in some chapters that he may be one of the identities of the Avatar known as the Comte de St. Germaine. I'm keeping an open mind.) Naturally, most of the world sees him as eccentric and frightening: his strange experiments with electricity and his radical takes on everything (including the books of the bible) make him a fascinating teacher to those who have "eyes to see and ears to hear," but a threat to society to those who remain in the dark.
Here is how Corelli's writing can be so off-putting. Nobody likes thinking that he or she is in the dark about anything; yet Corelli stoutly implies that this must be so for those who do not believe in her blatantly occult themes. Then she goes on to combine occult and Christian elements, creating a bizarre form of esoteric Christianity that she presents as TRUTH.
Yet let's not quibble over terminology. So what if Corelli believes that the soul is literally electric and that Heaven is a great electric circle? Other writers have made similar guesses about the soul and about Heaven, using safe words like "love" or "light." When we read that Jesus' body was electrically charged, which was why he could heal through touch, we can at least be impressed by the spunk it took to say such a thing in Victorian England.
Ultimately, everyone gets to write the story of his or her soul's search for God and to discover that the many different stories are just retellings of the same one. This retelling is particularly lovely, due to Corelli's descriptive and reverent style. It is with great passion that the heroine declares: "I desire to know why this world, this universe exists; and I also wish to prove, if possible, the truth and necessity of religion. And I think I would give my life, if it were worth anything, to be certain of the truth of Christianity."
I don't want to reveal the reason why the novel's title is "Romance of Two Worlds", because behind it is a fascinating twist that I think all readers should discover on their own. Don't worry that the book is all dialogue and teaching, however, as the plot takes many unexpected turns.
Other books in what has been called the "Heliobas triology" are "Ardath" and "The Soul of Lilith". However, it is "The Life Everlasting" that is the proper continuation of "Romance of Two Worlds", as it leads our heroine to a romance of her very own.

This magnificent piece of work changed my life...

You have probably already read all about how wonderfully Madame Corelli writes, and thus, I shall not elaborate on that. All that I can say is that this heavenly-sent book has changed my life. I had always been turned off from Christianity because of all the things that I knew of the church, and of the bleak end that awaited all who didn't belive in the church. But Marie opened up my eyes and my heart. I came across this book by "chance" and am now sure that it was all ordained by God. Thanks to this book opening up my senses, I now have found my twin soul and we are eternally grateful to God for the gifts he has given us. I highly recommend this book to both those who feel that they have already begun upon thier own spiritual journey, and those who feel alienated from God. "The Life Everlasting", a later book by also written by this earthly angel is another book that I belive we all need to read. Just give it 30 pages and you will most certainly agree with me. Thank you ! and God be with you!

Electricity and Occult Christianity.

_A Romance of Two Worlds_ by Victorian novelist Marie Corelli is a majestic tale full at once of mystery, intrigue, romance, and the occult revealing the inner meaning of Christianity in beautiful prose. Marie Corelli was an English novelist of the Victorian era who was much criticized in her day for her scathing criticism of the materialism, positivism, and scientism popular in the late Nineteenth century as revealed in her novels. This novel expounds an occult theory of Christianity based on electricity. At the same time however, the author decries the excesses of spiritism that had made their way to fill in the gap left by materialist philosophy. The author does not espouse any particular creed of Christianity, though this novel focuses upon Catholicism; however, her theory of the occult essence in electricity is unique. This is what makes up her "Electric Creed of Christianity". The book includes an introduction and preface written by the author as well as an appendix containing letters testifying to the uniqueness of Marie Corelli's spiritualism. Corelli was obviously influenced by Swedenborgianism and Theosophy as well which can be seen in the novel in several places.

This novel tells the tale of the author, a pianist, who has become ill with a physical depression due to overwork. At the request of her doctor, who has run out of cures, she is advised to leave London and head for warmer climes. She travels with two friends, an American colonel and his wife. She arrives in Cannes where she meets the artist, Raffaelo Cellini, who has acquired an amazing system of color and who offers to paint her portrait. Although she is ill, she decides to allow him to do so. While Cellini is painting her portrait he offers her a magic elixer which provides her with three visions of a mysterious individual known as Heliobas. She is to find out that Heliobas is the artist's master and that he had saved Cellini from a similar depression. She is given a book to examine which reveals the hidden spiritual meaning in music and she also meets Heliobas' incredible Newfoundland dog Leo who travels back and forth from Paris where Heliobas resides bringing messages. Cellini agrees to have her meet Heliobas who will be able to cure her through his wonderful electrical powers. The author travels to Paris where she meets Heliobas and is given special potions which enable her to make a full recovery. She also meets Heliobas' sister Zara, a sculptress impressive in her own right, and their friend Prince Ivan. Heliobas is a mysterious Chaldean who has mastered the art of electricity. He allows the author to experience entirely new realms, including interplanetary travel in which she sees for herself the glories of God, the angelic being Azul (Heliobas' "twin soul"), her own guardian angel, and the mysteries of Christianity. All of this is accomplished through what Marie Corelli calls "electricity". Zara herself is possessed of special electrical powers and wears a special stone which serves to channel her electrical charge. About the Author

Robert W. Keidel is Clinical Professor of Management at the LeBow College of Business, Drexel University. He also is principal of Robert Keidel Associates, a consulting firm based in Philadelphia. A former corporate manager and Naval officer (Vietnam veteran), he was a senior fellow at the Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania, and a program consultant at the National Center for Productivity and Quality of Working Life.

Keidel’s articles have appeared in The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, Management Science, and several other academic and practitioner-oriented journals. He is the author of three previous books: Game Plans: Sports Strategies for Business (Dutton, 1985; Berkley, 1986; Beard Books, 2006); Corporate Players: Designs for Working and Winning Together (Wiley, 1988; Beard Books, 2005); and Seeing Organizational Patterns: A New Theory and Language of Organizational Design (Berrett-Koehler, 1995; Beard Books, 2005), which was nominated for the Academy of Management’s 1996 George R. Terry Book Award.

Keidel received his BA from Williams College, and his MBA and PhD (Social Systems Sciences) from Wharton.

An actiobable approach to changing your thinking, better in hard copy but not at a premium price.

Strategy a complex and confusing area of business for the simple reason that strategy requires answering difficult questions for which there are no clear and simple answers. A lack of clear and consistent tools has created a whole strategic industrial complex as there are as many ways to do a strategy as there are stars in the sky - until now.

Robert Keidel's The Geometry of Strategy offers a simple, intuitive and powerful set of strategy tools that any one can use. Based on his personal experience as an executive, consultant and business school professor, Keidel has broken down the strategy process into its essential cognitive elements and then equated them with simple geometric shapes.

- Point thinking - its either black or white
- Linear thinking - an issue exists as choices on a spectrum
- Angular thinking - an issue is black or white - both/and
- Triangular thinking - an issue as a blend of autonomy, control and cooperation

The book focused on how to apply these different `geo-mental' (my word) models to various strategic issues and decisions. The book is organized by the different ways of thinking rather than exploring how that thinking could produce different results for the same issue.

Chapter 2: Point thinking and organizational persona

Overall a good book for a student of strategy, helpful for executives who have the time to think through these issues - that should be everyone, but often its not. If you have the time to think, and the desire to think differently and you purchase the book in hard copy, then the Geometry of Strategy is worth the investment of your time and attention.

NOTE: This book is a good investment at $15 - 25 for the hard copy, similar to the e book price. When I checked the hardcopy price on amazon was over $100, a level at which I cannot recommend the book, even though I did not get as much value from reading the eBook as I would have from having it in hard copy.

Strengths

The completeness of Keidel's treatment of the issues related to strategy and organizational definition.

The examples used to illustrate the tools and the different ways of thinking.

The illustrations that make it easy for you to see how your situation could be represented in these geometries.

Challenges

The book is conceptual in nature so its about how you think about these issues rather than address specific points like technology, HR, etc. That is not bad as you need to think clearly to make good decisions, but for people looking for a recipe at the functional level will not find it here.

This is not a good e-Book. Much of the book's value rests in its illustrations on how to use the different geometry's. Because of this I would recommend purchasing the book in hardcopy rather than electronically. I purchased a Kindle version and found myself recopying the diagrams into a notebook so I could think and annotate them better.

The writing style is rather academic and heavy requiring your concentration to work though and digest. This is another reason for not purchasing this as an eBook that one tends to read/skim more than study.

The book concentrates on Keidel's ideas and points without putting them into the broader context of what the reader may already know. I get the impression hat the book assumes that there is only one way to do strategy, which limits your ability to bring the reader's experience into play.

An inspiration in managment and organizational thinking

Robert W Keidel is a brilliant thinker who deserves far more visibility than he has in the global management arena. His latest book is an inspiration and a great, much expected (for me) follow up to `Seeing organizational patterns', a source of stimulation I return to often in my work as a consultant, author and speaker. I wish we could make Keidel's work compulsory to anybody with organizational/management responsibilities. For one tenth of Keidel's ideas others have created guru empires with little new ideas but a lot of noise. Thanks Robert.

Great book.

I found this book reads fast. It's not a simple read, but it's organized well and has a number of useful concepts. Unlike some other books, I can see how the information correlates with my professional career. I was renting it, but went ahead and bought it because I might want to refer back to the information at a later date.
